A tour in Avdou and around
Leaving the settlement of "Potamies" behind, follow the provincial road to the east. To your left, you will cross by the village "Sfentyli". A few kilometers further to the east, you will reach the village of "Avdou", a beautiful settlement that offers a variety of sights and activities to visitors. In this historical settlement there are 5 Byzantine temples preserved, featuring valuable frescoes:
- The temple of "Aghios Antonios"
- The temple of "Aghios Georgios" (inside the cemetery)
- The temple of "Evaggelismos tis Theotokou" to the east, located next to the school that also serves as a theatre during the summer and hosts various art events.
- The temple of "Aghios Konstantinos"
- The church of "Koimisis ths Theotokou", in a distance of about 300 m. northwest of the village, on a low hill.
